Together with Melissa Hovey, Managing Director of SHARE Charlotte, and April Whitlock, Head of Corporate Citizenship at LendingTree, we will begin by unpacking the biggest issues impacting Charlotte and how local nonprofits are tackling them. With Melissa’s expertise in connecting the community to over 700 local nonprofits and April’s experience leading corporate giving initiatives at LendingTree, they will offer valuable insights on how you can get involved in ways that truly make a difference. We’ll also explore how aligning your efforts with nonprofit needs can benefit not only the community but also your career.
About Our Speakers
April Whitlock: As the Head of Corporate Citizenship at LendingTree and Executive Director of the LendingTree Foundation, April Whitlock oversees impactful philanthropic and volunteer programs across the company’s U.S. operations. With over two decades at LendingTree and a rich background in creative strategy and leadership at various organizations, April has spearheaded initiatives to foster corporate giving and community support. A Duke University graduate and Charlotte native, she’s also deeply involved in local nonprofits, serving on the boards of the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, SHARE Charlotte, and more. April was recently honored as one of the 2023 Charlotte Ledger's "40 Over 40."
Melissa Hovey: As Managing Director of SHARE Charlotte, Melissa Hovey oversees a platform that connects the community with over 700 local nonprofits, making it easier for people to give back in meaningful ways. Under her leadership, SHARE Charlotte has facilitated more than $53 million in donations and volunteer support. Drawing on 20 years of experience in technology and marketing from her time at Dell Technologies, Melissa brings a strategic approach to enhancing community engagement. A passionate advocate for building strong local connections, she is also an avid marathon runner committed to fostering a more vibrant and supportive Charlotte.
